FOTD: 5 Product Face

I decided to do my makeup using just 5 products and this is how it went...

I used:
BENEFIT Total Moisture moisturiser
BENEFIT Porefessional primer
MAC Pro Longwear foundation
CHANEL Pink Explosion blush
MAC Pervette lipstick

What items would you choose for a 5 product face?

BENEFIT: Watts Up

I do love a highlight. A little subtle glow to the cheek bones that just shows when the light catches. Benefit Watt's Up is a good one for a champagne glow.

Benefit: Our soft focus highlighter turns on “watt” ya got with a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. With a cream-to-powder finish... it’s a switch on “wow” for all complexions. You’ll adore the smooth applicator and luminous sheen.

There a lots of types of highlight, Benefit High Beam, Moon Beam and Sun Beam and all liquid form and then you have powder highlights such as MAC Mineralize Skinfinishes. Watt's Up is a cream to powder in stick form which you can use with a brush or place it straight onto the face and then use the buffer on the other end or your finger to blend it out.

The nicest thing about Watt's Up for me is the colour, it's a subtle champagne and looks pretty on all skintones. It's a sheen on the cheeks that looks pretty when the light hits it.

What's your favourite highlight?

LEE STAFFORD: Argan Oil Miracle Heat Defence Spray

Lee Stafford: Argan Oil Heat Defence Spray is a light-weight with Argan™ complex, for peace of mind when using heated styling appliances. Protecting from the heat of hairdryers and other heated styling appliances, as well as helping straightening irons glide through your hair when styling. Argan Oil is a rich, nourishing oil, native to Morocco. It contains many of the ingredients associated with repairing hair and the creation of luxurious healthy hair. The Berber women of Morocco have used Argan Oil as part of their daily beauty regime for hundreds of years and consider it to have many benefits, including preventing moisture loss in their unforgiving desert surroundings. Now these ancient beauty secrets, proven for centuries, are spreading worldwide. With Moringa Seed Extract, otherwise known as Miracle Tree, a multi tasking ingredient that helps keep hair squeaky clean, whilst encouraging natural shine to truly glow.

I like to use a heat defence on my hair as I always use a hairdryer and straighteners and chose this one as it contained Argan Oil I though it would have even more benefits for my hair. The main problem with it is the smell. I really dislike it. I'm not sure what it is about it, but it is just very strong and over powering. I also find that it makes my hair a bit static when brushing as well and I can get fly-a-ways. I do think it's a good product, but it definitely has a couple downfalls.

What heat defence do you recommend?

BENEFIT: Stay Don't Stray Shadow Primer

Benefit: This dual-action power primer works 360 degrees around the eyes to make concealers AND eyeshadows STAY PUT. Concealers don't crease, eyeshadows stay vibrant and true. Sodium hyaluronate hydrates while Vitamins C and E help fight signs of aging.

I always have to use some sort of primer on my lids when I'm using shadow and I like this one, it is quite thick compared with Urban Decay's Primer Potion, for example, but it doesn't make it hard to work with at all. You can use it just on the eye lid or use it under as well to enhance the longevity of your concealer. I have also before mixed it in with my liquid foundation, if it is a bit on the dark side, and it gives the foundation better staying power as well as lightening it slightly.

Stay Don't Stray works with any Benefit concealers including; Erase Paste, Boi-ing and Fake Up.

BENEFIT: Total Moisture Facial Cream

Benefit: Say good-bye to dry skin and hello to "total moisture." This facial cream provides concentrated immediate & long-term hydration for a radiantly refreshed complexion. Our exclusive tri-radiance complex helps develop the skin's reserves of water & reinforce skin's moisture barrier. Contains mango butter, a natural plant-based emollient known to provide moisture. For normal to dry skin. In consumer testing, 100% of people tested felt that their skin was immediately and intensely quenched.

I suffer from dry skin and I like to use a more luxurious moisturiser to try a fight the dryness. This moisturiser is a nice thick cream, which can be used as a night cream for everyone, but I like to use it in the day too. It definitely works to keep me hydrated during the day and throughout the night. I love the smell of it, it is naturally fragranced and has a fresh cucumber scent. And, as usual with Benefit products, the packaging is really pretty and it looks great on display in the bathroom.

Total Moisture retails at £27.50 in the UK for 48g.

What moisturiser is your pick?

MAC: Pro Longwear Foundation

MAC: A long-wear foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition. Lightweight and creamy, applies smoothly to provide sheer to medium coverage. Even in hot and humid conditions, controls oil to keep skin fresh, natural and flawless. Provides everyday SPF protection.

I really like the longevity this foundation gives. I don't think I get the 15 hours wear out of it that it says, however it does last a long time. It is a good coverage for me also although it says sheer to medium, I like to build mine up to a medium to full coverage. I have mine in the shade NC20 but my shade changes depending on the time of year.

What do you think of Pro Longwear?

CHANEL: Pink Explosion Blush

Now it is coming into summer, the pinky blushes start popping up everywhere and this one is a beaut; Chanel Pink Explosion! It is a bright pink with a blue undertone and has a silky formula which is not powdery or chalky. It gives a lovely flush of colour to the cheeks.

CHANEL: Offers effects from very natural to very sophisticated. Used as a simple touch of colour, it gives your complexion a healthy glow. As a professional tool, it shapes and models your face.

BENEFIT: Ooh La Lift

Benefit: This legendary under-eye brightening boost is like an instant eyelift! Contains raspberry extracts and light-reflecting pigments to instantly perk up tired eyes. This delicate pink balm can be applied on bare skin or over makeup.

I do like trying products for under the eye and I like this one from Benefit. It doesn't exactly perform miracles, but it works okay to brighten the area. It doesn't give coverage though, it is literally light pink soft formula that just gives a boost around your eye. I'd would still use a concealer and add this on top if I wanted a slightly more brighter look.

If you like an under eye brightener with more coverage you could try bareMinerals Stroke of Light or Benefit Erase Paste.

URBAN DECAY: New 24/7 Liners

I recently picked up four of the new 40 (YES 40!!) 24/7 pencil eye liners from Urban Decay and because they are truly amazing I thought I'd show you which I got. The four I got, after a very long decision process, are Junkie, Freak, Deep End and then, for my mum, I picked up Asphyxia.

Deep End is a bright turquoise blue, it is very similar to Electric, an original 24/7 liner, but Deep End is slightly darker.

Junkie is a dark blue/green with green shimmer running through it.

Freak is a bright lime green with a slight shimmer to it.

Asphyxia is a sparkly purple which is a colour my mum loves, she a purple fanatic and wears the Asphyxia shadow by Urban Decay.

The formulation is so creamy, they are opaque and glide on so perfect in one stroke.

Have you tried the new 24/7 liners yet?

MAC: Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation

This is the newest MAC foundation I have tried and I have tried mostly all of them. The shading system is slightly different to usual. Normally you are either an NW or NC and then the shades start at 15 going up to somewhere in the 50's. This time the shades are more neutral instead of cool and warm and they are simply numbered, starting at 1.0 and going up in 1s or 0.5s. I usually wear an NC20 - 25, depending of the time of the year and I have picked up Matchmaster SPF 15 foundation in 2.0.

MAC: New Foundation technology using translucent pigments to enable a fully personalized finish influenced by the subtleties of your own skin's undertone. Moisturizing demi-matte finish. Medium buildable coverage. Line-reducing soft-focus powders.

It gives a medium buildable coverage and is supposed to contain translucent pigments which then adapt to your personal skin tone. It leaves a semi-matte finish, with 35ml of product and contains SFP15. I do like it, but don't love it. It wouldn't replace my Studio Fix or Pro Longwear foundations, that I do love from MAC. I prefer the yellow undertone of NC foundations rather than the neutral tone of Matchmaster. If you do, however, have a neutral undertone to your skin, and find MAC foundations are either too yellow or too pink, Matchmaster could be the one for you. It does wear well throughout the day, giving a good 8 hours wear.

What's your favourite MAC foundation?

MINK LASH EXTENSIONS

I really wanted eye lash extensions for a while and finally decided to do it. I don't have particularly short lashes, but they are very fair meaning mascara is a must have. With the lash extensions I feel like a can wear a lot less make up and it seems so much quicker to apply in the mornings.

I have medium and small mink lashes and you can get three lashes on one of your natural lashes, giving that full look. They are an expensive luxury and I will have them while I can afford them. Infills are required every 2-3 weeks and the money quickly adds up. I absolutely love them now and it'll be hard to give them up.

Have you or will you try lash extensions?

MAC: RiRi Woo Lipstick

There I was on Friday 3rd at 11am waiting for the RiRi Woo lippie to process into my basket. After a 20 minute wait, I was through to the payment and patiently waited for the arrival of my newest MAC purchase. Rihanna's full collections to be released later in the year, but first available was the cult red lipstick, based of the famous MAC lipstick, Ruby Woo. It online only and it sold out in about 3 hours.

RiRi Woo is a true, matte red lipstick, (like Ruby Woo) and it is supposed to suit every skin tone. It has a cool blue undertone and it makes your gnashers look pearly white. As with any matte lipstick it can be drying on the lips, but when I've worn it, it has lasted well on my lips.

Did you manage to get your hands on a RiRi Woo?

SMASHBOX: Photo Set Pressed Powder

Smashbox: Our creamy formula stands up to studio lights, keeping your look fresh, smooth and shine-free all day. Get lightweight flawless coverage with an imperfection busting 'soft focus' complex.  Plus anti-ageing vitamins C and E.

I've been really like this powder, it mattifies and adds good coverage to the skin and feels smooth to touch. It is the first product of Smashbox I have used and so far so good. I'm pretty impressed. I haven't put it to the test with studio lights, however it lasts throughout the day on my face and I'm happy with that. The palette comes with a nice big mirror which I like for applying on the go.

What Smashbox recommendations have you got for me?

MAC: Truth and Light - Magically Cool Liquid Powder

MAC: A silky, feather-light powder, formulated with 70% water, dusts on to the skin as a cooling mist to set and enhance the look of any foundation. Beyond sheer: light-reflecting and translucent. A virtually invisible way to add luminosity and a soft radiant glow to the skin.

This powder is a really odd formula, a fine powder which is made up of 70% water and finishes off foundation. It is a sheer powder which lightly enhances the skin, giving an iridescent glow. When applied it does feel very wet, which is strange because it is a powder formula. I still like it though, it doesn't give a lot of coverage, but I like how it feels and the subtle glow it gives.

BOBBI BROWN: Creamy Concealer

I have owned Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer in the past and recently repurchased another as I really liked it. I have a different shade this time, previously I had Cool Sand, this time I picked up Beige in the CCO, it was the only colour they had in stock, but it looked suitable for me, it's pinkier than Cool Sand, but it means it'll work well under the eyes.

The concealer also comes with a setting powder in the base of the pot, which is a yellow toned light powder, so if you like to set your concealer, it's the perfect two-in-one. For me, I tend to get dry skin, so I don't always like to use too much powder, especially around my eye area, but this powder is not a heavy one and on certain days I do use it to set my concealer.

I got my Creamy Concealer from the CCO in Antrim for £16.50

IRELAND MAKEUP & FASHION HAUL

I've been visiting my parents in Ireland for three weeks and am back off to England tomorrow and while I've been here I have done quite a bit of shopping. I thought I'd do a haul post of what I got, as I love reading these kinds of posts. I went to Belfast City Centre and there is a CCO (Cosmetics Company Outlet/Store) close by, which is basically a discounted cosmetic store which sells all brands that are part of the Estee Lauder company. Also I shopped in Derry, Ballymena, Coleraine, Letterkenny, Glasgow and got a few bits online too, here is everything I got my hands on...

Blue Milk, Lunar Sea, Orchidaceous

Online:
LIME CRIME: Blue Milk Uniliner
LIME CRIME: Lunar Sea Uniliner
LIME CRIME:
Orchidaceous Uniliner
LIME CRIME: Glamour 101 Lipstick
LIME CRIME: Mint To Be Lipstick
LIME CRIME: PoisonBerry Lipstick
ZKNATURAL: Bioderma Crealine H2O Michelle Solution

PoisonBerry, Mint To Be, Glamour 101

I love Lime Crime and had be lusting after the liners for a while and wanted a few more lipsticks too. Available Here or Here, where I ordered mine. I got Bioderma in Paris back in November, for €11.90 and finally finished up my 500ml bottle and was desperate for more. Now it is available in the UK, I went in search of the best deal online. I found it Here for £14.40 including postage for 500ml bottle.

Belfast:
MAC: brush cleanser

Up the Amp

I had six empty product packaging, so I returned those to MAC, and chose Up the Amp lipstick. And as boring as brush cleanser is, I like MAC's one for my brushes.

Antrim (Junction One):
CCO: Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit
CCO: MAC Spray pump
CCO: MAC Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick Set
CCO: MAC Truth and Light Magically Cool liquid Powder
CCO: Smashbox Photo Set Pressed Powder

I love going to the CCO, being able to grab myself some bargains. It can be hit or miss depending on what stock they have in, but I always manage to find a few bits that take my fancy. MAC Matchmaster foundation I got at £17.50, they retail in store at £25. Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit which I have had before and wanted it again. MAC Viva Glam Gaga set of her two limited lipsticks, I have her first lipstick and it is nearly done and I never had her second one, so I thought while I could, I'd get the set. MAC Truth and Light Magically Cool Liquid Powder, I just liked the look of it, as with the Smashbox Photo Set Pressed Powder.

Derry:
MISS SELFRIDGE: Black Peplum Jacket
TOPSHOP: Brown Chelsea boots
SEMI CHEM: St. Moriz Spray Fake Tan
BOOTS: Carmex

As soon as I saw the jacket, I knew I had to have it. Perfect for smartening up an outfit, can't wait to find an excuse to wear it. And it was in the sale at only £22. In Topshop I got brown Chelsea boots which I have had my eye on for ages, but couldn't find them in stock anywhere back home. I already have the same ones in black and loved those as they are really comfy. Along with those I got St. Moriz spray fake tan and a tube of Carmex.

Ballymena:
MISS SELFRIDGE: Black Silk and Lace Shorts
TK MAXX: White, Green and Blue Roxy Bikini Top
TK MAXX: Purple and Black Roxy Bikini Top
BOOTS: Soap and Glory Large Vanity Case
BOOTS: Soap and Glory Butter Yourself Body Butter
BOOTS: Garnier Ambre Solaire Dry Face Mist
CLOCKWORK ORANGE: Navy Superdry Hoodie
TOPSHOP: Black Leigh Jeans

The black shorts caught my eye and although it's still not very warm outside, I thought that soon enough it'll be summer and pairing these up with my Jeffrey Campbell's they'd look great. The two bikini tops were a bargain at £3.99 each in TK Maxx. I always struggle find good fitting bikini's and these both are a really good fit and shape. They didn't have matching bottoms so I'll have to go in search of some now! I've been looking for a large vanity case for whenever I travel, as at the moment I'm using three and the Soap and Glory one is huge and perfect for all my bits. An offer at Boots, spend over £10 and get a free Butter Yourself Body Butter, worth £10.50! I also got the face mist to tan my face up a bit for summer. I really wanted another Superdry hoodie as they fit really well and are comfy, plus had 25% off, couldn't say no! And Topshop also had a sale and the Leigh jeans are comfy and will be good for work and they were down to £25 from £42.

Coleraine:

CLOCKWORK ORANGE: Navy Barbour jacket
TOPSHOP: Stud and Rhinestone Necklace
TOPSHOP: Oval Sunglasses

Coleraine is my local town and is pretty small with not a lot of shop choice, however they do have a Clockwork Orange which is a Northern Ireland only store. They sell everything from Barbour to Ugg to Superdry, both Men's and Women's. I saw the Barbour Jacket in Ballymena, but when in Coleraine there was a 20% Student Discount on, so I picked it up a bit cheaper. Again Topshop's are everywhere, but for some reason I always find more in the smaller stores. I'm not massive on cheaper Jewellery as I just wear the pieces my boyfriend has bought me over the years, but this necklace really caught my eye and thought there would definitely be an occasion to wear it. Along with that these oval sunglasses, which totally remind me of Gaga, and I liked them on, so got them too, along with a free fabric case.

Letterkenny:

RIVER ISLAND: Khaki Molly jeans
RIVER ISLAND: Fringed Moccasin pumps

We took a trip to Letterkenny which is in Southern Ireland and I got these as they both caught my eye. I  liked the Moccasins, which I had seen before and like but they never had my size and the Molly jeans are the best fitting jeans I can find.

Glasgow:
TOPSHOP: Midi Heart Ring
TOPSHOP: Pini Tapered Jumpsuit

Front and Back

Also took a day trip to Scotland, which is where my brother lives, we met him and did some shopping. It rained ALL day, which was a bit annoying and then I got very sea sick on the ferry back to Ireland. But I did love what I bought. I used to have a midi ring years ago and after it broke I never found another to replace it. Now they're more popular I found this one in Topshop and for only £4! The jumpsuit was love at first sight, it's more dressy than what I normally go for, but I loved it on so much and I have to say it looks a lot better on than in photos.
I definitely made the most of my time back in Ireland and spent loads. I don't normally go this crazy but it was a holiday after all!

Be sure to link me your haul posts as I love to read them!
